About This Programme
UPM@Besut is an outdoor learning programme involving the many layers of community in Besut, Terengganu. The uniqueness of this programme is that it is a combination of two main programmes that have different objective and approach which are Grateful & Giving (2G) and Our Stolen Future (OSF).
2G is a programme involving the special needs children from Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi (PPKI). Last year, UPM had done similar activities with the PPKI students. As the activities were successfull, this year, UPM decided to do this 2G programme once more with SK Alor Lintah PPKI students. There are many activities that had been planned to improve the social skills and leadership skills of both side. Some activities are learning garden, science module, bakery module and explorace.
OSF is an awareness programme about pollution. The undergraduates will give insights about the effects of pollution to the community of Besut and will together, along with the PPKI students do beach cleaning activities. Last year, the beach cleaning activity involves 80 UPM students. There are many physical pollution that can be seen during the activity at Pantai Bukit Keluang last year, such as tins, plastic and glass. So, to overcome this problem, this year do not only bring more UPM students but also the PPKI students to clean the beach and spread awareness.
